Big Simplisafe fan here - love their system so far. I ordered and am trying to install a camera. Was not able to add the first one I received. I would go through the setup, but the camera would flash fast yellow and not connect to my home wifi. Simplisafe sent me a replacement. Same issue. Called Support today although wait was long support reps were helpful.
Was never able to get the unit connected. Was told that the camera can only support 2. Damager, first, who ever told you to shut off the5 band was nuts. If your router can transmit both 5 and 2. When you get the QR code, keep your phone level about 1 inch away and then slowly move it away about 1 foot, then move slowly back in. Repeat if you have to but my 3 cameras connected every single time using this method. Must make sure you are on the 2.
If not, call back and ask for a supervisor or manager. Appreciate it - didn't make sense to me at all. I did speak to a manager, who insisted the same thing. How do I direct the camera to use only 2. The Simplisafe camera apparently cannot deal with this. I was able to connect the Simplisafe camera on the first try to the 2.
Set up worked. Unplugged old router, re started mesh network. Camera will not connect flashing yellow light. This is real simple, and something that basically EVERY other home wireless product has already figured out. This information is not good news if true.
I have been on the fence with the cameras, but I do use the Google router. Hopefully another call to SS and talking with a supervisor might provide answers. If true, SS camera is behind the curve in more ways than one. Ok, so, these cameras can't be used unless you have wifi in the house???
I thought that they hooked up to the alarm system. I just purchased 4 of them! SS will even pay shipping. Can you expand on what type you have that is causing the issue? The newer routers that utilize mesh technology support 2. You cannot in most cases use a separate SSID name for each band. My testing was done using a Netgear router which allowed different SSID names older tech and a new Eero v2 router which is my daily driver router.Vivo xe160
I'm still completely open to being wrong here, but however you cut it, if these cameras are going to struggle to connect to the currently most popular and up and coming router tech, I feel sorry for the Support folks at SS - they will be dealing with a lot of frustrated customers. Damager, great post and thank you for taking the time to walk through the technical issues.D-Link Forums.

It says that I have to check if I have enough bandwidth, or checked if my camera is not blocked by my router But I have a Dlink DIR router where I have configured the Virtual server port 80 as it is explain in the manual I also have a DHCP reservation that works fine I can access the camera within my network What should I do more now to finally access my camera from internet this is for me the interest of havinf a network camera!!!
Were you able to complete the mydlink device registration using the Wizard CD when the camera was configured? Does mydlink list the device on the mydlink website although you can't see an image? While you walked through the DCSL configuration, was the camera physically wired to your network? Inside my network at home I can access the camera thru mydlink.
Something to adjust here? If you read through these boards, I think you'll find that quite often firewalls on employer networks are responsible for failed remote access via mydlink. There's a chance the stream is blocked by your employer. Try accessing mydlink from an open network other than your home. Also you may want to try Firefox only or IE only just to maintain consistency in your tests.
Where can I download D-link Java application? Hi, Not sure if this problem got addressed.
I have the same problem with access over the internet. The access to the camera through mydlink. However, access to the camera directly using WAN IP address does get into the setup page for the camera, but the live video goes blank with the AtiveX or Java button is pressed.
The failure of live video viewing directly in the camera page is consistent and happens everytime. I spent several hours with DLink 3rd level support and they think it is the issue with the camera hardware and am waiting to reply. However, I personally don't believe it the hardware, but will wait and see.
I am using the DI DLink rounter btw. I can access my camera through mydlink. In my office, I have two LAN's. One is for test purpose. This SAN is using port 80 in order to be accessed from outside of the router. The camera uses the same port Dlink support changed the camera port from 80 toin order to avoid conflict with the SAN.
Also, in the router, they created a port forwarding rule, pointing to the camera.IP camera or network camera is a new product which combined with analog and network video streaming technologies, in addition to its image capturing functions like the conventional analog camera, IP camera has built-in video compression processor with web sever function, to compress raw video footage, then broadcast over Internet.

Go to network connection, configure IP address to same IP segments, Subnet mask and default gateway must be same for both IP camera and computer. Ensuring IP camera and computer are in the same router.
For this problem, there are two possible factors. Firstly, there is no port mapping for IP camera. Without port mapping, IP camera is only accessible from local network e. To solve this problem, you just need to log in your local router, and enable port mapping for IP camera in virtual server menu.
Secondly, if you use domain or DDNS service, making sure the domain point to correct IP address with correct port number. This problem occurs when you didn't change the default IP address of IP cameras. After you bought the IP cameras, all of them were configured with a same IP address. With reason of IP conflict, when several IP cameras connect to router, one camera can work, but the rest of cameras can't connect to network.
To solve this problem, you need to set an unique IP address for each of cameras. Accessing the camera with default IP address e. Insufficient power supply, which caused the PoE IP camera can't turn on Infrared illuminators, thus images are black at night. PoE Power over Ethernet is useful technology which greatly reduced the cost on IP camera installation.
Typically, IEEE To solve this, user should use high quality Ethernet cable, or shortening the connection distance. Since network camera need to compress the video, before broadcast over Internet, every IP cameras encounter video latency, which is a common problem in IP video surveillance system. To minimize the video latency time, you can increase the bandwidth through upgrading your network infrastructure, also you can lower the bit-rate of streaming.Viewing IP Cameras Over the Internet
Lowering the image resolution also helps to reduce the video delay time. Increasing the fps can allow IP camera output smooth video.
Do you experience any of these problems? Please make comments if these information is useful to you. If you experienced other problems which are related to IP camera, please write it down in below comment section.
If your IP camera can't display images, also you are not be able to access the IP camera, likely the IP camera doesn't boot correctly. You can estimate the power requirements on the basis of IR range. In conclusion, the regular PoE switch only can work with IP cameras which require no more than Sometimes, the problem was caused by NVR.
You may solve the problem through upgrading or updating NVR's firmware. The video resolution should be same as the NVR's recording resolution. If you use our IP camera and NVR, you need to choose the system's recording resolution as in below picture:. And for any question, please don't hesitate to leave it in your comment. I will get the right answer to you ASAP. If you have no WiFi network or no router at all in your place, you can try the solutions in this post: Solutions for Security Cameras Without Internet Access. Check the several reasons why your security cameras working over network IP cameras are not working on WiFi. The WiFi reach is too bad — the IP camera is too far from the router or there are too many walls in between.
Electrical interference from devices like a cordless phone or microwave causes the WiFi signal to drop. If you have a wireless IP camera or a wireless IP camera system, and the IP camera WiFi is not connecting or the IP camera keeps going offline no matter if it's outdoor or indoor, you can try the top 9 workable solutions to fix the issue.
Check if the antennas are fixed well or not at the first place when you find the IP camera won't connect to WiFi. Normally, when you get the product package, the antennas are not connected to the camera. You need to manually install the antennas to the wireless IP camera.
Make sure you've tightened the antennas to the camera. Check if the power supply of the wireless IP camera is working properly. Make sure the power adapter is plugged into a working socket. If you get a battery powered wireless IP cameracheck if the battery is still at work. Change or charge up the battery. Try Reolink Argus 2if you prefer a wire free WiFi security camera with good connections. It's rechargeable battery powered and also can be solar-powered. No frequent battery changes and no worries about power supply.
For many times the IP camera won't connect to WiFi or failed to log in only because of the password. Make sure the WiFi login password is correct. Sometimes you get many passwords and you may mix them up. Check the password list and ensure the password you enter is the right one of the WiFi. Please set it the same as the SSID of your router.
To work it out, you need the IP camera software on computer or on your mobile phone. Some routers would block security camera connections if the firewall is on. The IP camera should not be too far from the router.
Check the distance between the IP camera and the router.
General problems and solution for IP cameras
The manufacturer or the IP camera company website could have that information. You can also check the WiFi signal yourself. Login the security camera software and head to the WiFi Settings. If the WiFi signal is less than one bar, it means your IP camera is too far away from the router or there might be too many barriers such as walls between the two.
Just get the camera closer to the router. Alternatively, you can buy a WiFi booster or extender for the router to extend the WiFi range, so that the IP camera can have a good reach to the stronger WiFi signal even it is put outdoors.
You won't see it if you set the camera for DHCP.Troubleshooting IP cameras can be tricky and frustrating. Despite everything looking correct, it can still take some extra effort to bring IP cameras up and operational.
As IP video matures, the technology gets easier to configure, but it is still far from "plug and play". Every technician should have a few basic troubleshooting techniques up their sleeve to get IP cameras online and working.Lt160 john deere fuse box
In this note, we detail the Top 10 basic troubleshooting tips for IP camera connections. Reboot the camera: Some consider the 'Golden Rule' of IT troubleshooting to first reboot the device before proceeding. Simply restarting the camera gives the chance for cache to flush, settings to recalibrate, and connections to be renegotiated.
This step is the least difficult and cheapest to perform, one only has to remove power, wait 10 or 15 seconds, and then restore power. Ping the camera and discover it: Type " cmd " into the Windows search box to open a DOS command prompt and the use the "ping" command to see if you can connect to the camera. For example, if your camera's address is There can be many reasons for that, the most basic being that the camera and the computer are on different networks or subnets.
If you are receiving proper connection replies, use a web browser or the manufacturer's discovery utility to connect to the camera. If you need help with this process, review this IPVM Basic Networking Tutorial on using manufacturer's camera discovery utilities, pinging cameras and setting your PC's IP address to be on the same network as the camera. It's good practice to keep a record of the MAC and IP addresses of installed cameras for troubleshooting purposes.
In a similar manner to ping in Tip 2 above, the ARP command can be used to show the IP and MAC addresses of devices connected to the network, just type "arp -a" at the command prompt. Confirm IP Addresses are not conflicting: Take care that two devices are assigned the same address, because this often has the result of 'cancelling out' network access to either device. A simple "fat finger" while inputting the camera's address, gateway or subnet can cause all kinds of havoc.
The ARP command listed in Tip 3 can help with this. Verify Camera Power and connection: If possible, look at the camera to make sure it is powered up. Most cameras have LED's that indicate the camera's power status, and if it is connected to and transmitting data to the network.Forums New posts Search forums.
